TRUCK TRACKS RUHR (2016)

Truck Tracks Ruhr is a concept by German theater collective Rimini Protokoll for which they invited 49 artists to contribute with a 5-minute sound experience in response to a site. The centerpiece of Truck Tracks Ruhr is a truck that changes the view of the Ruhr Region. The truck has been turned into a mobile audience seating. One side is outfitted with a huge window that frames the view outside. 49 artists identify 49 locations and focus the gaze of the spectator on striking, unknown, animated, or remote points of the Ruhr region. From April 2016 to March 2017, the truck was on the road in seven cities of the Ruhr Region. In each city, seven places were targeted, compiled as an album. Every seven weeks a new album was presented to the public, with new tracks of 5 minutes each.

In collaboration with sound designer Jonathan Snipes, I created a track titled Quelle (which means ‘source’ in German) for Truck Tracks Ruhr #4: Dortmund at a gas station in the suburbs of Dortmund.
